Day Three Hundred Twenty Three | Little Else

Work isn’t so great, and neither is anything else lately. That’s the way the end of the year tends to get, so I’m used to it. I’ve still got what I had at the beginning of this year, photography, and little else.

But I’m not going to let that stop me from getting things that I want done anymore.

Day Three Hundred Twenty Two | Last Day

I spent the last day of the long weekend doing mostly nothing. Except, I did some very minor shopping at Target: scented stuff to make the house smell good and batteries. At this point, I’m almost glad to get back to work and put this long weekend behind me. Great at the outset, not so much by the end.

Day Three Hundred Twenty One | Three

The third day of the long Thanksgiving weekend is about done, and I guess I’m starting to get worn down already. On the one hand, the 40-50 degree weather is wonderful, and I like having my house clean and inviting once again, but on the other, I’m starting to get down again.

This shot, by the way, was from early this morning, when I went to Waffle House with a friend. There was an accident, and the assortment of blue lights come from like eight police cars that were scattered about the intersection.

Day Three Hundred Twenty | Black Friday

Day Three Hundred Twenty | Black Friday

I haven’t camped out for Black Friday in two years, as 2007 was the last year any phenomenal deals were to be had on this day. I did go out with my roommate, my dad, and my nephew to check out a few of the big box stores at noon, just for fun.

And I did take advantage of one Black Friday deal: I bought Dragon Age: Origins on Amazon.com for $40, or 33% off its original price. Not bad for a hot, just-released video game. Especially not for one said to provide about 100 hours of RPG bliss. It’s guaranteed to make the rest of the year a lot more palatable to me.

It’s been chilly here in Florida during this Thanksgiving weekend, at least by Florida standards. Lows in the 40s, and 50s the rest of the day. That’s my kind of Autumn weather! I’m about to head out for a late-night Waffle House date with a friend. In my book, that’s a good end to any day. And I’ve still got half the long weekend to go.

Day Three Hundred Nineteen | Thanksgiving

I didn’t get a chance to actually post today’s photo before midnight, but it’s because of all the stuff I was doing today, and I think that’s worth it. After the usual family Thanksgiving stuff, I spent some time cleaning my house, so it’s looking really good for the first time in a long time.

I also had some friends over and basically played New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It’s definitely built for multiple players, because we had a blast. And this long weekend is only 25% through!

Day Three Hundred Eighteen | Long

Day Three Hundred Eighteen | Long

Last night was strange. I dozed off for a few hours, then woke up again around eleven not knowing what time, or even what day it was, took a shower and went out driving around. Later that night, I tried getting a proper sleep, but couldn’t, and ended up falling asleep around four in the morning, only to wake up at six to get ready for work.

Then I drove out into the haze seen in the photo above and somehow made it to work. It was pretty much dreary like this all day, and dark, and I remained kind of out of it. At three, we had a synchronized company Thanksgiving lunch with our D.C. office appearing via video conferencing. So, work basically ended two hours early.

Now, I’m getting the long weekend started. Four full days during which I can get things done. Lots of things.

Day Three Hundred Seventeen | Night Drive

I fell asleep early tonight, like at eight. Then, I woke up. And fell asleep again. And woke up. And so on for like three reps before I gave up and went out driving around. It’s been a while since I took one of my aimless night-time drives.

Day Three Hundred Sixteen | Training

Day Three Hundred Sixteen | Training

Tonight, I’m taking advantage of the training materials I’ve got access to through work, and doing a solid course on jQuery. There’s a huge difference between learning on the go, hacking tools to your needs on a case-by-case basis, and actually taking training. There are so many basic things I missed!

As I expected, this week is going to be a breeze. Three-day work weeks, I think, tend to be like that. I’m pretty excited that I’ll actually be getting paid for the other two; I think it’s the first time that’s ever happened. Then again, this is the first solid, legit job I’ve had. Damn retail work.

The holidays are officially on. I started seeing lights all about already. The ones seen here are in the heart of Winter Park.

Day Three Hundred Fourteen | Renting

Day Three Hundred Fourteen | Renting

Saturdays seem to go by pretty quickly, more so than Sundays. The weekend starts, and before you know it, it’s more than halfway through. I’m just glad I get to actually experience this phenomenon these days. I’m still liking the 9-to-5 scene.

I did a lot of driving around today. I checked out an area east of downtown where the available rentals are especially numerous, but the prices weren’t any better (in fact, often worse) than the rentals closer to my work in Winter Park. I’m finally starting to clean up the house this weekend so that I can get the moving out transition going. Renting out my place isn’t going to be fun, and being a landlord and a tenant is going to be strange. But, it will be worth it.

Day Three Hundred Thirteen | Freebie

Day Three Hundred Thirteen | Freebie

We moved everything out of the office today because we’re getting new carpets installed over the weekend. I like little things like this that temporarily pause everything. Going from design work to unplugging and moving everything at the end of the workday felt like the workplace equivalent of, say, a fire drill during school. Something like a freebie. I like that.
