I started a new goal today that has been a long time coming. Successfully completing my Project 365 boosted my will power, and this internet-free month had got me thinking about eating right and getting enough exercise for a change. I’m going to lose 100 lbs., which is what I need to lose to hit my target weight. I’m not setting a time-frame for this goal, but I’m just making sure I burn more calories than I take in every day until I’ve met this goal. 44/365

Today started out foggy and gray but ended nicely. I managed to get a bike ride in on the trail near my house before night fell, then did some freelance work at a nearby Starbucks and spent some quality phone time with a friend. I’m liking my new internet-less routine. 43/365

I made a lot of progress with the freelance project I’m working on today, and the night is still young as I write this. And I’m going to get more work done. It’s raining outside, so I couldn’t get on the bike today, but it is a great day to do freelance at a cafe. The week’s starting out right. 42/365

I found a tin full of old pins today, some as old as I am, most from the Eighties and Nineties. I had several of the Prodigy pins, circa perhaps 1992—that’s what the faded out color processing’s all about. I’ve got a lot of stuff like this, but I’m not that big on the past. 41/365

I finally got a chance to ride my new bike today. I think this is the first exercise I’ve done in about a year. All things considered, I managed a 10-mile ride alright, and I plan to do another tomorrow. I’m starting to feel sort of like new with this shift from screen to outdoors. 40/365

There isn’t as much stuff to do at work lately, and for the first time, it’s actually becoming boring. Add to that the fact that I’m sleeping well and now fully awake the whole day, and it’s mind-numbingly dull at times. it’s almost like this time last year. Except, I’m employed. 39/365

Life without the internet isn’t as dull as I expected, but it also isn’t nearly as eventful as I had hoped. Somehow, even after taking away everything I usually fill my free time with, I don’t recall getting much actually done. In fact, I can’t recall many details of any particular day lately. Everything blends together into one very long, very even day. It’s as if I were medicated. 38/365

Today, I picked up a custom bike I ordered a while back. It’s taken some time to finish, but it’s perfect. This is going to be the way I lose weight and start some real changes in 2010. 37/365

Now I realize why I’ve been ignoring the real world for so long. There’s always something shitty to be done. Example: A mystery leak sprung in the one stretch of carpet in my house, ruining it and causing the awful smell of ruined wet carpet. And I noticed that my dishwasher isn’t working. I’d rather be online right now. 36/365

Just a week ago, I was overwhelmed with pointless information, status updates from people I should be seeing in person, floods of tech news, and all sorts of random trivia. Now, rather than wondering what I’d do without it, I’m not sure what I would do with all this garbage. 35/365
