Day 48: Red, Black, and Green

Day 48: Red, Black, and Green

Seen here is my roommate’s bike, which has nothing to do with what happened today, except in that I might have to do a lot more bike riding soon. I hit a curb and damaged my car. Badly. Really badly. This isn’t the first time I’ve done something like this either, with one total loss and an engine rebuilt under my belt. This is bad. 48/365

Day 47: Remember the Milk

Day 47: Remember the Milk

For the first time in a while, I made good use of the weekend (so far). I’ve been using web to-do list service Remember the Milk a lot since I downloaded the Android app for it, and I’ve been checking off plenty of items lately. I knocked out a few things today, and I’ll keep at it tomorrow. Lists are great. 47/365

Day 46: Clean/Clear

Day 46: Clean/Clear

Distancing yourself from some things seems to be a good way to clear your plate. Three weeks without all the status updates and news tickers and crap of the internet, and suddenly, it doesn’t seem like I’ve got as much on my plate. All that noise was keeping me too preoccupied. Now, I’m exercising and eating right, and feeling better. I’m getting clean. 46/365

Day 45: Input/Output

Day 45: Input/Output

This time around, I’m treating weight loss as an engineering problem, and following the Hacker’s Diet site/e-book that seems to be the go-to guide for geeks tired of being glued to screens and gaining weight. It’s all about levelling out input and output to expend 350,000 calories. Burn that many off, and I’ve lost 100 lbs. I’ve got 348,000 to go. There’s no reason I can’t lose 100 lbs while I do my Project 365. 45/365

Day 44: 100 Down

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Day 44: 100 Down

I started a new goal today that has been a long time coming. Successfully completing my Project 365 boosted my will power, and this internet-free month had got me thinking about eating right and getting enough exercise for a change. I’m going to lose 100 lbs., which is what I need to lose to hit my target weight. I’m not setting a time-frame for this goal, but I’m just making sure I burn more calories than I take in every day until I’ve met this goal. 44/365

Day 43: Ride/Routine

Day 43: Ride/Routine

Today started out foggy and gray but ended nicely. I managed to get a bike ride in on the trail near my house before night fell, then did some freelance work at a nearby Starbucks and spent some quality phone time with a friend. I’m liking my new internet-less routine. 43/365

Day 42: Starting Out Right

Day 42: Starting Out Right

I made a lot of progress with the freelance project I’m working on today, and the night is still young as I write this. And I’m going to get more work done. It’s raining outside, so I couldn’t get on the bike today, but it is a great day to do freelance at a cafe. The week’s starting out right. 42/365

Day 41: In the Past

Day 41: In the Past

I found a tin full of old pins today, some as old as I am, most from the Eighties and Nineties. I had several of the Prodigy pins, circa perhaps 1992—that’s what the faded out color processing’s all about. I’ve got a lot of stuff like this, but I’m not that big on the past. 41/365

Day 40: Out for a Ride

Day 40: Out for a Ride

I finally got a chance to ride my new bike today. I think this is the first exercise I’ve done in about a year. All things considered, I managed a 10-mile ride alright, and I plan to do another tomorrow. I’m starting to feel sort of like new with this shift from screen to outdoors. 40/365

Day 39: Work Winding Down

Day 39: Work Winding Down

There isn’t as much stuff to do at work lately, and for the first time, it’s actually becoming boring. Add to that the fact that I’m sleeping well and now fully awake the whole day, and it’s mind-numbingly dull at times. it’s almost like this time last year. Except, I’m employed. 39/365
