Day 78: Preparing for a Small Trip

I’m almost finished with the stuff I’ve got to do at work. It’s good to be able to leave everything behind me over the weekend; otherwise, it wouldn’t be a vacation. Or a mini road-trip. Or whatever it is. I’ve already gotten packed and ready to go, and I don’t leave for antoher two days.

Day 77: The Wait

Day 77: The Wait

This week is going to be a long-seeming one. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to get away from where I am as much as I do now. So, the wait for Friday afternoon is just awful.

Day 76: Rainy Day Work

Day 76: Rainy Day Work

I like waking up to a rainy morning, but I don’t much like the part afterward, where I have to get out of bed and truge out into the rain. I’ve got a few more days, a project to complete, and then my first sort of vacation in ages. It’s going to be nice being alone on the open road for a few hours as I drive down to Miami. That’s almost one of the best parts. 76/365

Day 75: Rain and Coding

Day 75: Rain and Coding

I’m pretty close to finishing up the freelance stuff I’d been doing; launching it this week. It was rainy today, a perfect day to sit at a cafe and do some programming. Rain and coding go hand in hand.

Day 74: Endless Weekends

Day 74: Endless Weekends

I believe people usually long for the weekend during the workweek. For me, they just come and go and I hardly notice them. I never get anything done, never manage to relax, and before I know it, I’m back to work again. Today, I got a few more things done, and I bought a new 50mm f/1.8 lens. That’s something.

Day 73: 10 Down, 90 to Go

Day 73: 10 Down, 90 to Go

I’m more than 10% through my "100 down" goal to lose 100 lbs by whenever. It’s been an surprisingly easy ride down, and at this rate I’m well on track to go from morbidly obese to fit by the end of 2010. I’m already feeling better physically, and it’s helping me stay mentally motivated to get things done.

Day 72: Surviving the Days

Day 72: Surviving the Days

I’m already starting to feel the results of my weight-loss, and perhaps the fact that I’m sleeping right again is catching up with me too. Despite the lulls at work, I’m not nearly passing out, and I can manage to survive the days with my sanity more or less intact.

Day 71: Ready to Roll

Day 71: Ready to Roll

Finally, I got a new project to do at work, so I don’t have to be impossibly bored all day anymore. I’m still moving forward in small sprints and I think I’m getting somewhere. Speaking of that, I’m going to take the first break I’ve had in ages next weekend and going to Miami for a road-trip. I can’t wait.

Day 70: Economist’s Hat

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Day 70: Economist's Hat

I’ve decided that focusing on numbers are a great way to make progress. I’ve decided to put on my economist’s hat again and start focusing on the numbers again. I’m going to save, and I’m going to invest, and I’m going to follow the black-and-white numbers like I used to. But first, I’m going to re-study all the accounting and economics books from my days working on an economics degree. 70/365

Day 69: Little Numbers

Day 69: Little Numbers

I’m trying to get 30 miles per gallon on my GTI in-city when my only commute is during rush-hour traffic. So far, it’s going quite well; I’m somwehere between 28 and 29 MPG right now. Little numeric things like this have kept me going lately. 69/365
