Day Two Fifty Seven | Doodles
Friday, September 25th, 2009
I’ve been drawing and doodling again, and this is what my drawings have been looking like lately. This is what I drew on my note paper during meetings at work every day this week. it started as a doodle in a corner, and gradually overtook most of the page like a spreading bacteria. I’m going to keep exploring this style.
Got VMWare and Windows Vista installed on the Mac at work, and breathed a sigh of relief. Windows looks quite nice on the iMac’s 24″ monitor. I’ll be seeing more of that monitor this weekend, as I’ll be working on the weekend for (I think) the third weekend in a row. Basically, with the extra hours I’ve been pulling in, I do believe I see a camera upgrade in the very near feature. D90 kit, here I come!

Day One Hundred Thirty Two | Come Together
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Alright, I feel as if things are beginning to come together suddenly. Granted, it’s all the culmination of a few side-projects that I’d been doing during all the free time I’ve had since I haven’t been working, but still, it’s coming together.
After some thinking and discussing, I’ve decided to go full-on design/art and make programming/web development my second-tier. I might be sticking some of my photography in an art show in a month or so, and I’ve got a few website leads which involve as much design as they do coding. I’m also going to start making band performance flyers for my roommate’s band because I’ve been wanting to do flyers for ages now.
Suddenly, the art side-projects that had been kicked to the side as hobbies are coming in front and center. This is the start of the life I wanted to build for myself at the outset of 2009; I just didn’t realize it then.

Day One Hundred One | Diverging Paths
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Citrus orange. That’s the color I’m painting my kitchen. It should be about done tomorrow.
I spoke with an old friend from Miami today, mostly about art stuff, and how at 28, we’re at a stage in life where we’ve got to decide whether to go against or toward the mainstream, live a life based on you and your art, or get a boring nine-to-five job like the rest of society.
I’d say I chose the art route, but I never had a choice, it just happened gradually. I went with the flow, and that’s where the flow took me, so it’s time to embrace it. For too long, I’ve been trying to fight my inclination toward art in a futile attempt to lead a simple, if boring life.

Day Eighty Two | Quiet For Now
Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Tonight, I went out for the first time in as long as I can recall. I attended an art show where this gal was showing. The show was for the art department for the school I’m attending, so I got a chance to see what I’d have been doing had I chosen this degree back in 2006 instead of the more computer-oriented one I’m almost finished with.
Good show, and something to do on a Friday night to boot. I’ve got a full weekend ahead of me: working (freelance and portfolio), a family gathering, a birthday dinner, and thanks to Erica, I’m also on a hunt for some Marmite tomorrow. Fortunately, this place sells it.
As for the photo: This was an empty, quiet street I passed by this afternoon. I adjusted the tones a bit to reflect what this shot looked like inside my head.
